Ewing M. Phillips, 71, of Carmichaels, died at 11:58 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 1989, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 29, 1917, in Jefferson, a son of Pearl Rockwell Phillips of Oakland, Md., and the late Wayne Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a retired coal miner and mine construction worker and was a U.S. Marine, serving in World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of the Carmichaels VFW, the UMW, the former Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church and the Greene County Horsemen's Association. He was also involved in the Carmichaels 4-H Horse and Pony Club. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Dorothy Burnette Phillips of Carmichaels; a son, Gregory Phillips of Carmichaels; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Udovich of Crucible; a brother, Scott Phillips of Indianola; four sisters, Mrs. Gus (Helen) DelSignor of Monroeville; Mrs. Keith (Mabel) Bramble, and Mrs. Fred (Esther) Stoner, both of Oakland, Md; and Edna Eisiminger of Texas; and two grandchildren. Deceased is one sister, Hannah Marie Thompson.
