William D. Bitner, 76, of Carlisle, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Saturday, December 26, 1936, in Carlisle, a son of the late Daniel and Ethel E. (Richcreek) Bitner and was married to the late Bertha M. (Sheriff) Bitner, who died Nov. 26, 2005.
Bill was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He retired after 32 years of service with the former C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle. Bill attended the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Carlisle.

He is survived by two step-sons; Doug Grimes and Tony Grimes, both of Carlisle, one step-daughter, Kim Bailey of Carlisle and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Clyde H. Bitner and one step-son, Tom Grimes.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland Valley Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesleyan Church of The Cross, 430 "B" St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
