Leslie C. Smith, Sr., 81, of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013. Leslie was born in Marion, Alabama to Dorman and Lucy Smith on June 23, 1931. Leslie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was with the New York City Government as a Police Officer/Special Investigator for many years. He was a graduate earning a Bachelor's Degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He was a Methodist by faith and was a member of AME Zion Church. He was predeceased by sisters, Mabel and Dina; brothers, Dorman Jr., James and Carl. Survivors include his loving wife, Berdie M. Smith; son, Leslie C. Smith Jr., daughter, Pamela Best; grandchildren, Marc, Leslie III, Sean, and Bryce; brothers, Dotris Smith, Billy Smith and John Smith; sisters, Ossie July and Doris Wooding and many more friends, too numerous to mention that knew and loved him dearly. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood, 3207 West Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL, 33618, 813-968-2231 from 9:00 - 10:00AM. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 10:00AM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
