Michael Rustin "Rusty" Geter, 32, of Vicksburg passed away at his home on Sunday, April 14.
Rusty was predeceased by his mother, Wanda Caruthers; his father-in-law, Chuck Barfield; and a grandfather, Joe Walker. He is the son of Clifton Geter, and his stepfather is Mike Caruthers of Vicksburg.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Barfield Geter; his daughters, Lexi and Lili Kistler; and his brother, Josh Geter of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by his grandparents, Cecil and Nita Geter of Vicksburg and Joani Walker Thompson of Arlington, Wash.; his mother-in-law, Debbie Barfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rusty was employed as a control room operator with Entergy at Baxter-Wilson for a number of years. He was a loyal and dedicated employee who was well-respected for his work ethic and knowledge. Rusty was good with his hands — he could fix anything.
Rusty loved his family immensely. He took great pleasure teaching his girls about the great outdoors. He loved fishing with his friends. Rusty had a special place in his heart for his Paw Paw, Cecil Geter. He spent many hours by his side learning the finer points of driving 18-wheelers, beginning at the tender age of 8 years old.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who provided meals, prayers and support during this difficult time.

A memorial service was at 11 a.m. today at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. Visitation was at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
