Esther 'Dolores' Criss

WESTFIELD, Iowa -- Esther "Dolores" Criss, 75, of Westfield died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Bruce A. Lawler officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ellendale, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 4:30 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, and from 6 to 8 p.m., with family present and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Criss was born March 26, 1927, in Mallard, Iowa, the daughter of Heber M. and Anna (Mercker) Boardman. She married Arlie Clifford Criss on March 8, 1946, in Sioux City. She moved to Sioux City in 1941. She was employed at Wincharger and later Mass Merchandising. She also worked at Woolco and most recently Interbake Foods, retiring from there in 1991.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and antiques.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Russell and his wife, Kelly Criss of Sioux City, and Arnold Criss of Westfield; three daughters and their husbands, Wilma and Rick Minter of Loveland, Colo., Sandy and Ed Fravel of Sioux City, and Cheryl and Eugene Flynn of North Sioux City; a sister, Joyce Vondrak of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Dean Criss; and a sister, Ann LaVon Cowan.

Pallbearers will be Larry Burchell, Dale Hayden, Gregg Lanegan, Ray Braband, Rod Welch and Bob Thompson.
