Patricia Parham Braun, widow of the late Dr. Winston Braun died Tuesday evening September 17, 2002 at Allen Morgan Health Center in the Trezevant Episcopal Home. A native Memphian, Patty was born October 3, 1922 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Warner Parham of Memphis.
Mrs. Braun is survived by daughter Nancy and husband William F. Smith of Raleigh, NC, daughter Grace and husband Jeremiah Upshaw of Memphis, Winston Braun Jr. and wife Debra of Woodstock, GA, and son Phillip Curtis Braun of Memphis. Patty leaves five grandchildren: Grace Robinson Terhune, Curtis Yerger Robinson, and Phillip Curtis Braun Jr. of Memphis, William Braun Smith of Charlotte NC, and Ellen Anderson Smith of Raleigh NC; and three great grandchildren. Predeceased by their sister Jeanne Parham Coors, Patricia leaves her brother Curtis Warner Parham Jr. of the Czech Republic.
Patty attended St. Mary's Episcopal School and graduated from The Hutchison School in Memphis in 1941. She attended both Arlington Hall in Washington DC and Stephens College in Missouri. Patricia Parham married Naval Lt. Winston Braun MD, also of Memphis, upon his return from Normandy and the Pacific Theatre in 1946. Patricia was a member of The Junior League of Memphis, Le Bonheur, The King's Daughters, and Our Home and Garden Club. She also enjoyed volunteering with young children at the Lion's Club Sight Saving School of Memphis.
A service will be held Monday morning at 10 am at St. John's Episcopal Church on Central Ave. with burial afterward in Memorial park at 5668 Poplar Ave. The family will also greet friends at 9 am. Monday in the Parish Hall on the west side of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3741 Garrett Road, Durham NC 27707 or the charity of choice.
