Burt Fairchild, 65, of 34 Hawley St., died Thursday in Oswego Hospital. Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Dwayne and Hazel Guernsey Fairchild. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He had been a stationary engineer at the Central Heating Plant, the State Unversity College at Oswego for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Loomis Fairchid; a daughter, Karen Prave of Union Springs; two sons, Burt Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla., and George of Westchester, Pa,; a brother, George of Cortland; two sisters, Thusa Finnegan of Hamilton Homes and Etoral Arroway of Zephry Hills, Fla.; a stepfather, Oland Steenberge of Oswego; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 8:30 a.m; Monday in Dowdle Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church. Burial will be in the spring. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
