Doris O. (Thompkins) Hudson
June 28, 1922 - January 11, 2018

One more shining star in the skies, one more angel in heaven. Doris O. Hudson, age 95, of Clovis, NM died peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018, in Georgetown, TX. She was born to Mamie and John Q. Thompkins of Hollene, NM.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years; Tom, her brothers; Earl Thompkins and Jack Thompkins, her sisters; Louise Sharp and Opal Campbell.

Survivors include: her son; Larry (Carolyn) Hudson, daughter; Jatonne (Buddy) Pierce, three grandchildren; Tisha (Steven) Aldredge, Brent (Brandace) Hudson, Scott (Belynn) Pierce, four great-grandchildren; Damian Pierce, Jaxon Aldredge, Sarah Werbner, and Cole Hudson, and her brother; Don (Nell) Thompkins.

Doris was passionate about many things. She loved playing golf. She and Tom belonged to three square dance clubs. They enjoyed traveling to many district, states, and some out-of-state meets. But her true passion was her family. She and Tom were wonderful parents. They had so much fun with their grandchildren. They would take them to Red River every summer and to Lubbock, TX where the kids learned how to order room service.

She encouraged Tisha in her musical endeavors; she was always there for Brent, no matter what he was doing and enjoyed sharing their love of the Bible. During Scott's college years, she did his laundry an helped host fraternity dinner parties at her home. At this time, Scott decided he'd rename Grandma Doris "the Fossil". With her sense of humor, she allowed it. Her family and friends got quite a kick out of it. Her great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. She cherished every moment she had with them.
Her door was always open. She touched everyone she met. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, 8100 Mountain Road N.E. Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or charity of choice.
