Kenneth J. Asplund, 81 of Sioux City died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his residence after a sudden illness.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michelle Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berge Northside Chapel. Kenneth was born July 1, 1923 in Sioux City, the son of Albert and Erma (Magnuson) Asplund. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. He served overseas in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He married Genevieve M. Solvsberg on July 3, 1954, in Sioux City. She died on Oct. 1, 1993 in Sioux City. Mr. Asplund was a lifelong Sioux City residence and worked for Concrete Pipe Machinery Co., Sioux tools, Phillips Kiln Machinery Co. and Riedesel Tax Services.
He was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church for 60 Years. A member of the American Legion, Monahan Post 64 and Souxland Senior Center.
Survivors include a son Kirby Asplund and his wife Tamara, of Lee's Summit Mo.; a daughter, Sally Bradford and her husband, Stephen of McMurry, Pa., two sisters Helen Priday and Lily Cawood, both of Lakewood, Colo.; and three grandchildren Benjamin Asplund and Danny and Emily Bradford.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Harold.
