Part of George Fleming's story, including the account of his sad death, drilling into a missed hole in the Vindicator Mine, can be read about in the wonderful book by his widow, Anne Ellis, "The Life of an Ordinary Woman". The family lived in Goldfield at the time. He left behind his wife, Anne, and 2 baby daughters, Neita (age 3) and Joy (7 month old infant). Anne described him as having coal black hair, combed back straight back, high arched black brows over very dark eyes, a scar across one cheek.
