Anthony Bernard Sweeney (Jr), was the son of Anthony Bernard Sweeney(Sr) and Mary Ann Sweeney nee Murry. His father was a pioneer of Texarkana, Ark, coming to Texarkana abt. 1882-3. Anthony (Sr) and wife Mary are buried in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery over on the Texas side of town. Also buried there is Mrs. Sweeney's father, Owen Eugene Murry.
Anthony or Andy as he was called, was never married. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Shreveport, Louisiana where he lived for many years. Andy also served in the Military from 15 Dec 1917 to 22 Apr 1919. He was with the 328th Aero Squadron. He enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, MO. and was honorable discharged at Carlstrom Field, Florida with the rank of Corporal. He worked in the St Louis, Mo. area for Ralston Purina for many years as a salesman..Later on Andy was a salesman for a Municipal Fire Equipment Company and did extensive traveling in Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri.
Andy was a humble and a very kind and compassionate man. Two of his brothers are also buried here in Calvary Cemetery as well as a nephew.
