Newport - Roland Viverette Gamble, 89, of Newport, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Knightdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, 621 N. First Avenue, Knightdale, NC.

Roland was born in Nash County on April 6, 1924. He served in the United States Army during World War II, worked as an auditor with the NC Equipment Company and the state prison. He worked as a staff accountant and in human resources for the NC State Board of Education in Raleigh. He owned and managed Gamble's Motel in Atlantic Beach for 10 years before retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Faye C. Gamble; son, Michael Glosson and his wife, Nicole, of Newport, NC; daughter, Tina Glosson Bachar and her husband, George, of Midlothian, VA; son, Chris Glosson and his wife Deborah of Liberty Township, OH; grandchildren, Andrew Glosson and his wife, Megumi, Daniel Glosson and wife, Lori, William Glosson, Caleb Glosson, Gabrielle Glosson, Samantha Bachar Galindo and husband Thomas, Zachary Glosson, Grace Glosson and Sara Kate Glosson.

The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City on Saturday, April 20, from 6 - 7 p.m. and at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service in Knightdale on Sunday, April 21, from 2 - 3 p.m.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerome Viverette, Ruth V. Penny, Nettie V. Henderson, Naomi V. Bloomer, Emily V. Beane, Thornton Viverette, and Elmo Viverette preceded him in death.

In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to Karis Church, 606 Ridgeway Avenue, Columbia, MO 65203.
