Frank R Smith
August 25, 1924 - September 13, 2015

Frank R. Smith, age 91, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Shawano. Frank was born in Milwaukee on August 25, 1924 to the late Frank A. and Agnes (Podkomorski) Smith. He enlisted in the United States Army and courageously served from 1943 until 1946, earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many other military honors. On March 4, 1944, Frank was united in marriage to Elaine Nelson. He worked for John Deere Horicon Works for many years as a design engineer. He was an extremely active member of Church on the Hill Shawano United Methodist Church and served in many positions, was a past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner, and a Boy Scout leader for many years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, David and Peter, many relatives and countless friends.

Frank is survived by his wonderful loving wife of 71 years, Elaine; their sons, David E. Smith of Slinger and Peter J. Smith of New Berlin; four grandchildren, Andrea (Kevin) Brehmer, Matthew, Melanie, and Michelle Smith; great grandchild, Clair Brehmer; and two sisters, Audrey Amundson of KY and Geraldine Ashenbrener of TX.

He was preceded in death by one son, Paul; a daughter-in-law, Constance; his parents, one brother and one sister.

Private family services will be held. Memorials can be directed to the Church on the Hill or a charity of your choice.
