Gen. Tooze, who lived at 3814 NW Thurman St., senior partner in the law firm of Tooze, Powers, Kerr, Tooze and Peterson, died of a heart attack Monday.
Active in law, teaching, Republican politics and the military, Gen. Tooze served in World Wars I and II and later was in command of the 104th Infantry Division Reserve, including all Oregon and Washington units. He retired in 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Wood, Portland; Mrs. Joe (Leslie) Brown, Cashmere, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Fisher, Roseburg; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
