He attended the University of Michigan, graduating with a bachelor's in 1989 and a law degree in 1900. In 1900 he was admitted to the bar. He served as the assistant prosecuting attorney for Wayne County from 1912 to 1918, and the prosecuting attorney from 1921 to 1924. Paul Voorhies was the Attorney General of Michigan for one term from 1931 to 1932.
