He was formerly employed as a machinist at an airplane factory in Buffalo, N.Y. He also formerly worked as a purchasing agent and inspector at Eureka Electrical Products Inc. from 1934 until his retirement in 1972. He attended Greenfield Baptist Church in North East.
He was preceded in death by a step-mother Thelma Ahrens; a brother Richard Ahrens; two sisters Awilda Schroder and Annondes Woods.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Beatrice M. Doolittle Ahrens who he married September 21, 1935. A daughter Sheila Rudesill and husband James of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A close nephew David Woods and wife Darlene of Ripley, N.Y. Also several nieces and nephews and cousins.
