Newspaper Article:
That two people should live together as man and wife for 66 years is so unusual that it is worthy of special mention. On Monday, February 7, 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wickersham quietly celebrated the sixty-sixth anniversary at their home near Zanesfield. Because of the feeble health in which the old people have been for the greater part of the winter, no visitors were invited to the home, but they received by letter, card and message many congratulations and expressions of regard.
Thomas Wickersham, son of Joseph and Margaret Wickersham, was born May 11, 1822, in Columbiana County, Ohio, and came to Jefferson township, Logan County while a young man.
Belinda Elliott Wickersham, was born in Stark County, Ohio, January 12, 1834, and came with her parents Isaac and Rebecca Elliott, to a farm near New Jerusalem, when a child.
Thomas Wickersham and Belinda Elliott were married February 7, 1850, by Squire Daniel Cogwill, and have moved but twice. Their present home is two miles northeast of Zanesfield. To this union was born seven children, six sons and one daughter, of which Samantha, Ellis O., and Enoch E., have gone to their home not made with hands. W. O., the oldest living, resides near Belle Center; Everett C., near Rushsylvania; Bert A., on the home farm near Zanesfield and Thomas A., still single, is at home with his parents to care for and comfort them in their old age. There are six grand-children and five great-grand-children besides a host of relatives and friends that pay them due respect in their old age. They were born of Quaker faith and still cling to the religion of their early days.
Owing to their advanced age they have not had any public anniversaries but are always glad to see their friends and relatives.
