World War II Soldier. Machinist. Born in Italy, he was the son of the late James and Mary DeLuca. Raised in Norristown, he worked at Herbert Hosiery Mill, Ametex, and Wildman Jacquard. Balzona was a sergeant in the 222nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division, and fought in Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, and the World War II Victory Medal. Balzona was married to Mary Elia. He was a member of Holy Saviour Church in Norristown and The L.A.M. Valley Forge 1776 Lodge of the O.S.I.A.
