Obituary

Mrs. Nancy Lapp as born in Pennsylvania Oct. 5, 1825 and died Dec. 30, 1909 at the age of 84 years.
At the age of 8, with her parents she moved to Ohio. At the age of 18 she married M. Hiestand and soon after united with the Dunard church. Nine children were born to this union, two of which died in infancy. In 1868 the family moved to Missouri, in 1878 her husband died.
In 1881 she was married to Benjamin Lapp. In 1884, they moved to Frontier county, Nebr., where they lived until her husband [sic] death in 1898 and since then she has made her home with her children.
She leaves 7 children, 18 grandchildren, and 24 great grand children [sic] to mourn her death.
The funeral was held at the home of H. Fitch Saturday Jan. 1, at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Geo. Mishler, of Orafino.

She was mother to Mary HIESTAND CONOVER and Kate HIESTAND FITCH, grandmother to Lena CONOVER JACKSON (who are all buried in the Farnam Cemetery), and Glenn CONOVER who died in France during WWI.

Nancy's first husband, Mathusalem/Methuselah HIESTAND died before 1880, presumably in Knox Co., Missouri.

Nancy remarried Benjamin LAPP in January 1880 in Knox County, Missouri. After her second marriage to Benjamin LAPP, the couple and some of the children from each of their first marriages wound up in Nebraska.

A year or so after Benjamin's death, Nancy moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Nick CONOVER, and their children, and resided with them until her death.

Nancy and Mathusalem Hiestand had 9 children in all, as stated in the 1900 Census. Eight of the children are
Delilah who married F. Keiser, Martin(died as infant), John who married M. Sullivan, Catherine(Kate) who married Fitch, Mary who married Conover, Jesse who married Nancy E., David who married O.B. Harry, and Samuel who married S. Dryden.
