Hampton -- Retired Tech. Sgt. Glen Matthews Griffith, 48, a Peninsula resident for 15 years, died Saturday, Dec. 12. He retired in 1988 as a corrections officer after 23 years in the Air Force, including service in the Vietnam War. Mr. Griffith was a recipient of the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. A native of Cambridge, Md., he was a member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of Trappe United Methodist Church, Trappe, Md. Survived by his wife; a daughter; a son; a sister; his mother and stepfather; his maternal grandfather; and a grandson. W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Langley Air Force Base Chapel 1. Burial Thursday in Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, Md., with military honors. Out-of-state arrangements by Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge, Md.
