Summary: The Edward Cousinard Papers contain legal and business papers, correspondence, memorandum books (1862-1869) and a receipt book (1865-1866) concerning Cousinard's duties as sheriff, state tax collector, commissioner of election, and constable of the justice's court. Bills and receipts for liquors and furnishings indicate Cousinard was in business from 1869 to 1872. The papers also include tax receipts of Richard Roddy of Baton Rouge (1829-1868) and court cases, chiefly civil cases of the Fifth Judicial District Court
Nancy d/o Richard Roddy and Nancy Lyons-civil marriage, b. 18 Mar 1830, bt. 24 Apr 1833, sponsors
Juan Llaneres and Elizabeth Myrz [record from St. Joseph Catholic Church baptismal register Vol. 9, pg. 135
Nancy d/o Richard Roddy and Nancy Lyons, mar. 15 Nov 1870 Edouard Cousinard, s/o Charles Cousinard
and Mary Monget, witnesses Louise Michal, Wm. B. Heitman, F. Cooney, Jno. J. Wax [record from St. Joseph Catholic Church marriage register Vol. 19, pg. 102]
Edouard Cousinard, the husband of Nancy Roddy (Rhodes)is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, along with other members of his family. His mother was a Monget and this family also married into the Kleinpeter family [there is a rather large Kleinpeter tomb which was originally the Monget family tomb--approximately 25 years ago, a member of the Kleinpeter family had this tomb restored; in the process she had all of the grave markers and tablets that did not have the Kleinpeter name on them placed inside the tomb with only Kleinpeter markers placed on the outside--as Edouard Cousinard and his brother William have United Daughers of the Confederacy headstones next to this tomb, I suspect that his wife's grave marker is inside this tomb and she is buried in the tomb]---but I can't prove it.
