New Hampshire Governor. Born in Scotland, his family moved to America when he was one year old. In 1876 he started a company that made post office furniture and equipment. His company became the largest manufacturer of these products in North America. He was the first person to serve two terms as President of the state Senate (From 1891 to 1895). He was Governor from 1905 to 1907. As Governor he pushed for the creation of the White Mountain National Forest. He died in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
