Albert Lossen Lane was born in Sundance, Wyoming to Samuel G. Lane and Lucy Van Meter. Both of his parents passed away before he was 11. He entered the service Aug. 26, 1917 and worked as a Civil Engineer.

He married Freda Margaret Kelly on July 5, 1916 in San Francisco. They were the parents of 4 children.
