Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Melvin was the son of Albert & Helen Mae Camp. He attened schools in Texas & Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine (Rizley) Camp, on October 31, 1984; his second wife, Grace Feller Camp, on September 1, 2001; and his sisters, Helen Thomas & Mary Barlow.
Melvin was a member of the Linwood United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City and past member of the Victory Mem. United Methodist Church of Guymon. He was an active member of the Guymon Lions Club, a World War II veteran serving in the European theatre and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves at the rank of Lieut. Colonel. He was Texas County Treasurer from 1970 - 1986.
He is survived by a daughter, a step-daughter, and two sons.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Victory Mem. United Methodist Church.
Melvin's memorial is beside his wife, Elaine in the section between 300 St. & Rose Lane and between D St. & E St.
