Judge Wm. L. Harris, a distinguished lawyer, formerly of the Supreme Court of Mississippi, died here yesterday of pneumonia.
Husband of Frances (Semmes) Harris ~ married May 12, 1830
Graduated from the University of Georgia in 1825. Admitted to the bar in GA in 1826. Began practice of law in Washington, GA; practice in Columbia, MS, 1837-53; Judge MS Circuit Court, 1853-57; Judge MS High Court of Appeals, 1857-58-65; commr. to GA from MS., Dec. 1860, continued as circuit Judge in MS under Confederate Govt., strong supporter of Confederacy; resigned as Judge, 1867, practiced law, Memphis, TN, until 1868. Died Memphis Nov. 26, 1868.
