EX-GOV. CAULFIELD'S WIFE DIES; ARTIST

Mrs. Henry S. Caulfield, wife of a former governor of Missouri, died of complications yesterday at Barnes Hospital. She was 85 years old and lived at 6235 Washington Boulevard.

Mrs. Caulfield, the former Frances Delano, had been a teacher in the Webster Groves public school system for about two years before her marriage in 1902. She was an amateur artist and won second prize in the "new talent section" of the City Art Museum's first show for the Eighth District of the Missouri Federation of Women's Clubs in January 1956.

An honorary life member of the Wednesday Club, she also was a member of the Current Century Club for about 59 years and was active in affairs of First Congregational Church.

Her husband, a lawyer here, was elected on the Republican ticket as governor in 1929 and served until 1933.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters. Mrs. Clarence M. Barksdale, Mrs. Justin J. Cordonnier and Mrs. Frances Galena, all of St. Louis; a son, John D. Caulfield, Mount Baldy, California and two brothers, William J. Delano, St. James, Mo., and Fred Delano, Alton, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lupton undertaking establishment, 7233 Delmar Boulevard, University City, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
