On the memorial for James Emerson Welch, you state " unable to narrow down which NEW PROVIDENCE cemetery as listed on death certificate". Have you directly contacted any of the cemeteries to determine whether they have a James Welch burial? I know a search of Find-a-Grave does not show any Welch burials in any of the New Providence cemeteries. I'm sure you found the same thing as part of the research you did in making that statement.

I have the following suggestions for consideration, none of which might give a good answer - or maybe are things you have already looked into - but they are just thoughts I had when trying to discover the same thing.

1) On the death certificate, it looks like what is written in the location box is New Providence, Tenn. The only cemetery listed in New Providence (which is in Montgomery County) appears to be very small - only 18 memorials are listed in FaG. But have you contacted them? Frankly I think this is the least likely possibility of my suggestions.

2) If looking for a "New Providence Cemetery," the one in Monroe county would seem to be the most likely, since the undertaker lists his address in the death certificate as Madisonville, which is in Monroe County. Have you actually contacted that cemetery?

3) Of course, the Cemeteries of 2020 may not be the same as the cemeteries of 1927. The New Providence in Monroe County is specifically in Telllico Plains, TN. However, There are several cemeteries in Tellico Plains. Two of them have Welch burials. In particular, John Anderson Welch, who is the son of your memorial's James Emerson Welch, and John's first wife Inez Clemons Welch, are buried in Unicoi Cemetery in Tellico (see memorials 24354841 and 24354804). What is the possibility of James being buried in what is now Unicoi Cemetery, and either it was part of New Providence at the time of burial, or the death certificate is simply wrong about the actual cemetery?

Just some food for thought. I am a bit interested because I am James' second cousin, twice removed. His mother was Elizabeth Holt, and her grandfather Larkin
