Alvin Ray (Bo) Benoit was born in Westlake, Louisiana, on December 20, 1920 to Remy Morgan and Mary Pearl Benoit. He went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2013 at the age of 92.
Bo was a graduate of Westlake High School where he was a member of the basketball team . He served in the Naval Air Force during World War II. He worked for Cities Service for 32 years and retired in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leroy and Cecil Benoit and sister, Mae Neeld.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Harvey Benoit; son, Charles Benoit and wife, Candy of Garland, Texas; daughter, Alvinette Crager and husband, Doyle of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Angie Corkran and husband, Shawn of Lumberton, Texas, Chris Benoit and wife, Alissa of Wylie, Texas, Becky Blalock and husband, Ray of Coppell, Texas and Cindy Higgins and husband, Mike of Kingwood, Texas; six great grandchildren, Maddie, Christian and Evan Corkran, Bailey Benoit and Gavin and William Higgins.
His funeral will be 2:00pm, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Rev. Lonnie Gothrop will officiate. Visitation will begin Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm and resume Saturday noon until service time. Interment will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Northstar Baptist Church, 2455 King Mill Pike, Bristol, Virginia, 24201 or to Houston River Baptist Church, 110 West Houston River Road, Sulphur, Louisiana, 70663.
