John Melvin Moore entered life on March 31, 1922 in Indiana, where he was born to William and Helen Moore. John worked in Weldon for Dr. Sprague for many years, where he was given the nickname, 'Farmer John.' He moved from Weldon to Orange Cove, Calif. and worked in the fruit orchards until he retired in 1984. He and his wife, Helen, moved back to Lake Isabella where he spent many hours on the lake pursuing his favorite hobby - fishing.
John is survived by his two brothers, Ernie and Lawrence Moore, of California, many nieces and nephews, and by Mary Meredith, a close family friend of 40 years and his caretaker. He is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Helen Moore.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights. Pastor William Sturgis will be officiating.
