Belle, 9-years old, started having seizures in February 2013. Our vet did some tests and diagnosed her with stage 3 renal failure on February 8. She also had arthritis of the hocks and hips.
We had her euthanized on April 27 as her condition had greatly deteriorated and her bloodwork showed that her kidneys were on the verge of failing. There was nothing else we could do for her.
Her last day was wonderful. She would no longer eat the renal dog food--she'd been through them all, but I made her renal safe pizzas, and she loved them. She also enjoyed some pineapple angel food cake, her favorite snacks, and being with the family. We shared many meaningful moments that day.
She was a wonderful dog, faithful, obedient, and gentle. She's greatly missed.
