Ruth Amidan

Ruth (formerly Holmes) Amidan of Corvallis died Wednesday at the Corvallis Manor. She was 84.

She was born in Brigham City, Utah, to Heber Ray and Louise W. Priest. She attended School in Ogden, Utah.

She attended Ogden College and worked as a beautician for several years.

She married Don B. Amidan on May 5, 1993. The couple lived in Ogden before eventually settling in Corvallis.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she enjoyed serving in many capacities. She served in the Texas Corpus Christi Mission and worked in the Portland Temple. She enjoyed being affiliated with the Girl's Camp at the church's Camp Alpine, west of Alpine, Ore.

She is survived by her husband, Don; brother, Roland Priest of Bountiful, Utah; children, Sandra Parsons of Corvallis, Danny Ross Holmes of Lebanon, Suzann Overton of McPherson, Kan., Jimmy Ray Holmes and Howard Holmes of Willits, Calif., and Julia Wing of Lehi, Utah; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold "Hy", and sister, Marja.

She was much loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4141 N.W. Harrison Blvd, in Corvallis. A visitation at the church will precede the service from noon to 1:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Corvallis Second Ward Missionary Fund in care of Bishop Gary Moss, 1235 N.W. Dixon Ave., Corvallis, OR 97330.
