"James Roderick Brower died Tuesday, July 7, 1981 at St. Mary's Hospital, Sparta. He had reached the age of 58 years, 3 months and 6 days.
James was born in Sparta on March 31, 1923 the son of Dirk and Lois (Lindley) Brower. On February 27, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marjory Yost in La Crosse.
They lived on Summit Ridge for one year and then moved to Sparta. Jim worked as a self-employed painter and decorator.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marjory; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Diane) North, Cataract and Mrs. Rodney (Margaret) Jones, Cataract; one son, James Brower, La Crosse; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Marie) Beissel, La Crosse and Mrs. Neil (Evelyn) Graves, Pittsburgh, Penn.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 1981 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta, with Revernd Al Jakubowski officiating. St. Patrick's Adult Choir sang and was accompanied by Mr. Dayton R. Beebe. Burial with full military honors was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta, with the following serving as pallbearers: Andrew Carey, Robert Quast, Vilas Welcher, Lawrence Laufenberg, James Deurloo and Orville Kvistad. The Page-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
