TUNNEL WATCHMAN KILLED BY TRAIN
Thomas Addy's Decapitated Body Found Wednesday By Freight Train Crew
LEAVES LARGE FAMILY
Thomas Addy, 60, who resided one and a half miles south of Newcomerstown and a night watchman at the C. & M. tunnel, near his home, was instantly killed Wednesday shortly after midnight when he was run over by a freight train. His body was found at the entrance of the tunnel at 12:45 Wednesday morning by the train crew of a passing freight. The head was severed from the body. Not a scratch was found on the body.
It was not learned Thursday whether the man was walking the track at the time of the accident and accidently fell on the rails and was killed or whether he unconsciously stepped in front of the train. His body, shortly after the tragedy, was removed to the Homer E. Lydick Undertaking Co. morgue at Newcomerstown where it was prepared for burial.
Mr. Addy is survived by his wife and a family of eight children. The children are, Clyde, Erwin, Freda, William and Carl all of the late home; Mrs. Harvey Little and Mrs. Lawrence Wilkins of Newcomerstown and Mrs. C.C. Rector of Guernsey.
He lived on a farm south of Newcomerstown practically all his life and had worked for the, railroad company as night watchman. He was a member of the Lutheran church of Newcomerstown. He was widely known and enjoyed a large circle of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at the late home Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock with Rev. Kramer of Gallon in charge. Burial will be made in a Newcomerstown cemetery.
