DEATH CLAIMS MAGGIE KING

Mrs. Maggie May King, formerly of 212 Coolidge, died Wednesday evening in Ponca City Nursing Center. She was 98.

Born Dec. 8, 1882, in Fort Scott, Kan., she was the daughter of W.C. and Catherine Dunaway. She was educated there and moved to Stillwater with her family, where she helped in the family-owned home furnishing store.

She and Henry [sic] Clay King were married Jan. 20, 1908, in Winfield, Kan., and the couple made their first home in Stillwater. King died June 2, 1953, in Stillwater. Mrs. King came to Ponca City that same year.

Surviving are two sons, Ivan King, 1900 Meadowbrook, and David King of Houston; a daughter, Mrs. Hartwell (Lavinia) Davis, Flint, Mich., several grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, in addition to her parents.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Monday in Stillwater cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Dr. Bill Masters, pastor of First Christian Church where she was a member, will officiate.

The casket will be closed.

King Funeral Set Monday

Graveside rites will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairlawn Cemetery for Mrs. Henry C. (Maggie May) King, formerly of Stillwater, who died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1981, in a Ponca City nursing home. She was 98. Dr. Bill Masters, minister of the First Christian Church of Ponca City, will officiate. Interment is under direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.

The family has suggested memorials in her name to the Ponca City First Christian Church of which she was a member.

She was born at Ft. Scott, Kans. on Dec 8, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E.[sic] Dunaway. She came to Stillwater with her parents who operated the Home Furnishing Store.

She and Henry Clay King were married in Winfield, Kan., on Jan. 20, 1908. They made their first home in Stillwater.

He predeceased her June 27, 1953, and after his death she moved to Ponca City.

Four sisters have also predeceased her.
