Ruth Iris (Lamer) McLish was born October 30, 1928, in Okmulgee, OK to Aloysius and Evelyn Lamer. She passed away at home of natural causes on April 25, 2013. Raised in Oklahoma City, she married Cal McLish (CCJCTM) November 24, 1950. A beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, Ruth made a home for her family of five children while she followed her professional baseball player husband around the country, eventually settling back in Edmond and working at times for Humpty Dumpty grocery, St. John's Catholic Church, the American Bank, Edmond YMCA and finally as a Realtor for Abide Real Estate. Ruth remained in Edmond with her family nearby the rest of her life. She was a lifetime member of Silk Stockings, loved to play golf, swim at the Y, visit with friends, tell a joke or a story and listen to a good country song. Ruth was always quick with a laugh and a smile or a good one-liner, and through everything, never lost her sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul; her daughter, Ruth Ann McLish, in 1972; granddaughter, Kallie Beth McLish, in 2002; husband, Cal McLish, in 2010; and son, Cal McLish Jr., in 2011. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Kathy, of Norman; sons, John and wife Pam, and Tom and wife Ginny, and daughter, Luanne Howell and husband Brian, all living in Edmond; along with 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The McLish family would like to thank caregivers, Beverly Norman and Anita Plummer, for the special love and attention that they provided to Ruth. Services will be held at the First Christian Church of Edmond Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 10 a.m., under the direction of the Rev. Chris Shorow and Matthews Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmond YMCA or Edmond Hope Center.
