Mrs. William Blanchard, of Mass., who is well known here, has lately come into notoriety as being the youngest daughter of the American revolution. The search has been going on for some time and the honor was held for a short time by Mrs. Hollister, Later Mrs. Avery, claimed the honor when Mrs. Blanchard, who is only 50 years of age, stepped to the front proving her claim to the honor beyond a doubt, as her father was a soldier in the revolutionary war. She is the daughter of Jeremiah Rockwell, who was born in 1756, and he was 87 years old at the time of her birth. He lived in Brandon from 1847 until he died on the 28th day of Aug 1852 and was buried in West Bangor. Mrs. Blanchard, who was Victoria Rockwell, and sister of Cyrus Rockwell, of East Dickinson, married William Blanchard, a native of West Bangor, and they lived here for several years previous to their removal to Holiyoke. They often visit here Mrs. Blanchard has been interviewed by reporters for New York and New England papers and a good picture of her appeared in the Springfield Homestead. As we have never seen or known of any of these facts being mentioned in any of the Malone papers we thought it was due Mrs. Blanchard, as an old resident, and it is with pleasure we write this bit of a sketch.
