Vanessa Ann Adkins Megee, Estella's granddaughter, wrote:
Estella quickly adapted to adversity and changes in her life. Widowed young, and shortly thereafter loosing her oldest son,Stanton, she always put her best foot forward. She lived life to its fullest and remained a bright spot in the lives of many. Active in the church (originally Hickory Hill and later Grace Church in Georgetown) she had many friends who thought the world of her. She was definitely a giver and not a taker in society. She was intelligent and quite a business woman; an independent woman before it was "in fashion". She liked to be on the go and active, was always up to go out for lunch or shopping if her granddaughter called. Anyone, who listened, was definitely going to learn from her. She knew the Bible inside out and lived it in the best way she knew. If anyone could make lemonade when life handed her a lemon, she definitely could and did. She was an inspiration to all we only wished she could live forever, and, in our hearts, she will.
