Services for Mary Mincey Jernigan age 89 will be held Saturday, May 4 at 11:00am at New Providence Baptist Church, burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Cliff Leornard will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday at 5-7pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Jernigan passed away Wednesday, May 1 at her residence. She was born in Chadbourne, NC the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Minnie Byrd Mincey. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to the mountains. She had several hobbies that kept her busy, playing bingo, poker machines, fishing and heading to dance recitals watching her family members perform. Surviving are daughters, Linda Thompson Jones, Margaret Ann Holden, Leona Thompson, Evelyn Chisholm, Jeanette (James) Oliver; sons, Rusty (Patty) Thompson, James Jernigan; sister, Pauline Gainey; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Leo Thompson. www.nortonfh.net
