PLATTSBURGH — Lawrence J. Butler, 69, of Dennis Lane, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Sep. 23, 1943, the son of Wilfred and Blanche (Recore) Butler.
Lawrence graduated from PHS in 1965. He worked for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 37 years, retiring in 2003. He then worked part-time for Plattsburgh Motor Service.
Lawrence was a member of District #3 Town of Plattsburgh Volunteer Fire Department and a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Champlain Council #3525.
He is survived by his wife, the former Janice Turner, whom he married April, 1970 at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point; two sons and their families, Chris and Danielle Butler and their children, Michaela and Jacob and Kevin Butler and his children, Victoria and Brady; and two brothers, Gary and Phil Butler all of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours will be held on from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to District #3 Town of Plattsburgh Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements are entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh.
