Lucille Constance Sanny
Obituary

On January 11, 2013, Lucy Sanny passed peacefully in her sleep from this world, which had been her home for 90 blessed years, and stepped onto the heavenly shore to be in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and to join many loved ones who preceded her in this passage.

Lucy was born Lucille Constance Brooks on February 6, 1922 in Livingston, California to Flossie Mayone (Spensley) and Claude Peter Brooks. She was the fourth of five children.

Lucy remembered her childhood as a very happy time. She loved playing with dolls and helping her mother around the house. Her beloved parents, sisters Dorothy, Eleanor and Claudine and her brother Gordon have all passed on. As a teenager, Lucy was swept off her feet by a chubby farm boy from Iowa (as he described himself later) named Lorne Charles Sanny. They married a few years later on June 13, 1943.

They served with the Navigators, an international, interdenominational Christian ministry throughout their life together. They wanted a large family and had six children: Tom, Beverly (Hough), Charles, Cheryl (Downing), Jean and Judy (Templeton). There was never a shortage of activity in their home! Lucy was a woman of deep faith and a godly woman. Her life was fulfilled in loving and serving God, in sharing her life with Lorne, in caring for her children, and in helping meet the needs of other people. Her compassion, generosity and love for others was incredible. She embraced her children and their families, her many nieces and nephews and their families and never ceased praying for them all!

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, eight grandchildren and their spouses, eight great grandchildren and innumerable dear friends. They all will deeply miss her! Lucy considered her life blessed by God and full of so many wonderful people and memories.

She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church and had served there as a Sunday School teacher and as a deaconess. She enjoyed genealogy, researching her roots in North Yorkshire, England, Ireland and in the U.S. Meeting living relatives was a great delight! She was a regular at Ross Auction for many years, thrilled to find items for her own home as well as for family and friends. Lucy was also a wonderful seamstress.

Her final years after Lorne had passed, were spent joyfully as a resident at Emeritus at Bear Creek Assisted Living, which she considered her home. She was a light to many there. All will remember Lucy for her deep commitment to God, her love for her family and friends, her sincere desire to help others, her smile, her humor, and her big hugs. She will be missed on earth, but she has been welcomed into heaven forever. "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." Proverbs 31:28 (King James Version)

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square. Dr. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 4:00 PM at the First Evangelical Free Church of Colorado Springs, 820 N. 30th St., with a reception to follow.
