Madeline Theresia Aden was born April 5, 1924 at Colome, SD, the first of two girls born to the family of Otto and Elizabeth (Pietz) Schulte. She went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Her youthful years were spent on the family farm helping with the duties of an everyday farm kid—milking the cows, helping with the chickens, putting up hay, and helping with the house chores. She many times referred to herself as being her Dad's hired hand as he only had girls.

Madeline graduated from Dallas High School on May 18, 1943. She then took a position teaching school north of Colome. She was united in marriage to Clarence Aden on June 29, 1944 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Colome. Madeline was quite proud and blessed to have been baptized, confirmed, married, and forever a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.

Madeline and Clarence purchased their home in 1949 and called this home for the rest of their lives. This home is located across the street from the school and served as an after school stop for many children over the years. Her delight was being able to help any child who needed a safe place to be.

Madeline was employed for many years at the Colome Locker, when she worked for her good friends, the Harmacek's. She also worked for JCPenny, the Outlaw, Colome Hot Lunch Program, Colome Service Station, and also Home Health for a time. Madeline and Clarence also spent many falls cleaning pheasants and enjoying the comradeship of many out of state hunters and friends.

Her grandchildren, though not living nearby, loved spending the summer and many special times with their grandparents. Whenever the opportunity would arise Madeline would find a way to be near her grandchildren as well as the great-grandchildren. Miles never seemed to make a difference.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, and her sister Doris Kalenda.

Surviving is her daughter, one grandson, one granddaughter, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
