Mrs. Mary Angeline Peden, one of the early settlers of El Dorado Springs, died at her home last Friday after an illness of more than a year, her death being due to paralysis.
Mrs. Peden, the daughter of Allen Boone Bryant and Sarah Bryant, was born near Nashville, Tenn., January 26, 1846, and was 82 years, 10 months and 9 days old.
She was married to Hosea A. Peden at Franklin, Ky., November 16, 1873 and to this union were born, twin brothers, Daniel and Charles, having preceded their mother in death. Surviving is the daughter, Mrs. F.B. Churchill of this place, also two grandchildren, Wenona Billie and Fred B. Churchill.
Mrs. Peden's husband preceded her in death some twenty-five years ago and since that time she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter. She had been a resident of this vicinity for about forty-three years, coming here with her husband in the early days of the town. She was member of the M.E. Church South, for many years and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life to the end. Deceased was one of this city's very very best and most highly respected women and during her long residence in this community she enjoyed the friendship and high esteem of many friends, who are sincerely grieved at her death.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. F.R. Chapman, paster of the M.E. Church, South, were held at the home 666 South Kirkpatrick street, last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and interment was in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery.
