THELMA LEONA WHEALE

Thelma Leona Wheale of Rimbey passed away at the Rimbey Long-Term Care Centre on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the age of 94 years.

Thelma was born in Leduc, Alberta to Albert & Mary Gillespie, on December 22, 1917, the oldest of nine children. Her early years were spent at Strome, Alberta. The family lived in southern Saskatchewan before settling on a homestead at Breton, Alberta. Here Thelma attended Liberton School. She moved with her family to Nanaimo, B.C. in 1944. Thelma was united in marriage to William Wheale on October 23, 1948. Bill and Thelma farmed at Innisfail, Alberta where their four children were born. In the spring of 1962, the family moved to a farm west of Rimbey, Alberta.

Thelma is survived by her children, Linda (Ernest) Clintberg of Spruce Grove,, Marlene (John) Peacock of Rimbey, Betty (Murray) Sawatzky of Okotoks and Brian (Diane) Wheale of Rimbey; one sister, Elaine Wheale and three brothers, Ken, Walter and Ron Gillespie all of Nanaimo, B.C. , twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Although Thelma will be sadly missed, her family rejoices and is comforted by the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Saviour whom she loved and served faithfully.

A family graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church.
