Bette Bailey, 83 of Battle Lake died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Bette Ann Bailey was born on December 24, 1929 in Rugby, North Dakota the daughter of Andrew and Bernice (Stempson) Ellsworth. She was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Rugby and graduated from the Rugby High School.

Bette and James Bailey were married on August 24, 1952 in Rugby, North Dakota. They moved to Battle Lake in 1965. Bette was a homemaker and was employed with Battle Lake Hardware for twenty-two years. She enjoyed traveling and after Jim retired they visited Bill in Alaska, Kurt in Guam and went to Australia, Hong Kong, Mexico and various places throughout the United States. She was active with her husband, attending many Lions functions. Bette also enjoyed camping with her family, bridge with friends and word finds.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cindy Bailey of Battle Lake; two sons, Bill Bailey of Battle Lake and Kurt (Linda) Bailey of Port Allen, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Matt (Kristy) Bailey of Barnesville, Jeremy (fiancée' Jennifer) Bailey and Joshua (Nicole) Bailey both of Moorhead, Carter Bailey of Logan, Utah and Amber Bailey of Minneapolis; one sister, Ruth Fedje of Rugby; one sister-in-law, Cecilia Ellsworth of Gillette, Wyoming; one brother-in-law, Jack Dorman of Charleston, South Carolina; and by numerous relatives and friends. Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on April 11, 2004; son, Steve on April 5, 2012; her parents, Andrew and Bernice Ellsworth; one sister, June Dorman; two brothers, Robert and Donald Ellsworth; one brother-in-law, Ardell Fedje.

Visitation: Friday, May 3, 2013 from 12 noon to 3:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 3:00 pm with Intern Pastor Hannah Benedict at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake
