Ralph was the 4th child born to Caroline [Lena] and Christoph Wilhelm [William] Aupperle and their first son. He married later in life to Orpha [Orphie] and had no children born of their union.
I had visited their farm in Council Bluffs, IA where he seemed to enjoy being a farmer, took good care of his 'stock' and allowed we kids to ride on his pony when there on vacation from CA.
From the funeral service bulletin: "In memory of RALPH MATHIAS AUPPERLE born 8 July 1894, Exira, IA. Entered into rest 23 Aug 1987, Council Bluffs, IA. Age 93 yrs, 1 mo, 15 dys.
Services Tues, Aug 25, 1987 1 p.m. Beem Belford Chapel. Officiating Clergyman, Rev. G. Eldon Haworth, Assoc Pastor, Broadway United Methodist Church. Vocal selections: HOW GREAT THOU ART & THE LORD'S PRAYER.
Bearers: Kenneth Lovell, Neil Aupperle, Bill Christian, Lowell Aupperle, William [Bill] Aupperle, Delmar Jones.
Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery, Oakland, IA."

About her brother, youngest sister Hilda wrote: "Navy WW I--big teaser in loving way--always concerned about Hilda's health--gentle person--all brothers were good but Ralph was extra special."
