Mary Anne (Mosier) Stivers was born on December 7, 1810 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. The autobiography of her son, Chester B. Stivers, in H. C. Bradsby's History of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, described Mary as a native of Easton, Pa., but did not mention her parents. It is likely, based on locality and DNA evidence, that they were Henry and Elizabeth Moser, who were living in Newport Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, at the time their daughter Julia was born in 1813. Mary married Samuel B. Stivers of Newport Township and was the mother of:
1. Thomas B. Stivers, b. Sept. 8, 1833
2. Conrad Line Stivers, b. Nov. 21, 1836
3. Chester Butler Stivers, b. May 30, 1839
4. Melinda Stivers, b. Jan. 21, 1842
5. Hendrick Bradley Wright Stivers, b. July 29, 1844
6. Elizabeth Ann Stivers, b. Sept. 23, 1847
7. Phoebe A. Stivers, b. Sept. 3, 1850
8. Horace S. Stivers, b. Jan. 1, 1855
Samuel and Mary were early settlers of Wright (now Rice) Township and Mary died there in 1888.
