A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City. Another memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Warlick Funeral Home chapel, Lincolnton. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery, Lincolnton.
A native of McDowell County, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 1706. She was a member of Lincolnton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Leonard Byrd Jr. and Jackie Lee Byrd, both of Houston, Texas, and Dennis Wayne Byrd of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Louise B. McFalls and Maude B. Drum; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is serving the Byrd family.
