JOSEPH KENT WORTHINGTON was born on 20 November 1854 in Dublin, Harford County, Maryland to William Cole Worthington and Susannah Harris Kent-Worthington.

When Kent's parents passed away, he lived with his uncle James C. Worthington and Aunt Blanch Hall Lee-Worthington, and is enumerated with them on the 1860 census.

Kent attended school in West Whiteland, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He married Josephine G. Harlan in Pennsylvania, and they had ONE son:

Dr. Joseph Kent Worthington (1882-1923).

Kent passed away on 5 July 1896 in Longport, Atlantic County, New Jersey, and was buried at Darlington Community Cemetery in Darlington, Harford County, Maryland.
