The Rev. Mable Anna Riffle, 84, of 4113 Mounds Rd., secretary of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists and director of the Spiritualist Camp at Chesterfield, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the St. John's Hospital. An ordained minister of the Spiritualist faith, she served 54 years as secretary and director of the camp, which she supervised in connection with her duties as secretary of the State Association. She was know in many countries for her religious work at the camp and elsewhere.
She was born Aug. 18, 1877, in Montpelier, Blackford County, a daughter of Lymon E. and Eliza Jane Simpson. In 1908 she came to Anderson.
April 1, 1901, she married Arthur R. Riffle in Anderson. He died June 19, 1954.
Under her administration the Chesterfield Camp was thoroughly modernized; she supervised building there of three new hotels, a cafeteria, art gallery and the Cathedral of the Woods.
