Funeral services were conducted today at 3:30 p.m. Abner B. Donaldson, 71, who died Saturday at a local hospital after an extented illness. The Rev. H .C. Lowder officiated at Gay-Yost Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Pineview Cemetery. Pallbearers were P. L. Frazier Jr., H. T. Stallings, W. A. Hunter, C. E. Todd, Richard Ray and Preston Moore Jr. A native of Bertie County, he had been a resident of Rocky Mount for 48 years. He resided at 215 Jordan Street and was a member of Arlington Street Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Duffie Slade Donaldson; a daughter, Miss Ruth Donaldson of the home; a son, W.A. Donaldson of Rocky Mount; two grandsons, Ricky and Jeffrey Donaldson, both of Rocky Mount.
